Orientation essentials Starting your study journey with Charles Darwin University Australia? Here’s everything you need to get set up and ready for success. Guidance for new students Follow these simple steps to activate your account, enrol in your first units, and get familiar with your online study tools. Pre-enrolment Step 1: Activate your student account Before you can enrol, you’ll need to activate your student account. It only takes a few minutes: Click the activation link and answer a few quick questions. Set up Multi-Factor Authentication to keep your account secure. Once completed, you’ll be ready to enrol. Activate now Units Step 2: Enrol in your units With your account activated, you can log in to the Student Portal and open MyStudentInfo to start enrolling. Enrol in your core units first – follow your study plan. You’ll be able to add specialist electives later once core units are complete. Update your contact details to ensure your teaching and support teams can reach you when necessary. Login Step 3: Get to know the Student Portal The Student Portal is your single sign-on hub for all Charles Darwin University learning and admin tools, including: Learnline (your online classroom) Microsoft 365 Library resources Grammarly and more No need to remember multiple logins – one username and password connects you to everything. Student Portal Apps overview Step 4: Learnline, your online classroom Learnline is where your studies come to life. Here you’ll access learning materials, join classes and connect with lecturers and classmates. To get started: Check your system – Confirm your computer meets Learnline requirements. Complete the “Get Going with Learnline” unit – A self-paced guide to navigating your study space. Learn on the go – Download the Blackboard App for mobile access to grades, assessments and discussions. Apple device Android device Login tip – Use your student ID (e.g. s123456) – not your full student email – and your account password. Training Step 5: Complete the Academic Integrity module All new students must complete the Academic Integrity unit in Learnline. This module will help you: Understand academic honesty and the importance of original work. Recognise plagiarism, cheating and other forms of misconduct. Build the skills you need for success at university. You must achieve at least 80% on each quiz to pass. We recommend completing this module as soon as possible. Step 6: Check system requirements Before classes begin, make sure your computer is correctly set up to support Learnline and the University’s online tools. Recommended hardware It’s recommended to have a recent model desktop computer or laptop with the following: At least 4GB RAM or higher for optimal performance At least 1GB of free disk space At least 1024 x 768 screen resolution Sound card and speakers Headphones and microphone (A combined USB or Bluetooth headphone/microphone will produce better quality than a built-in microphone when participating in online classroom discussions). Internet connection A high-speed broadband connection is recommended. Operating systems Windows 10 or higher MAC OS 10.13 or higher iOS, Android, Windows Mobile, Chrome OS Technologies not supported The following technology is not supported: Windows XP Windows 7 is not supported for use with Respondus Lockdown Browser Windows, Mac OS, and Linux systems NOT running a supported browser Internet Explorer Edge version 41 and lower Firefox versions 50 and lower on desktop; all Firefox versions on mobile devices Safari versions 10 and lower.
